Ace Combat: The Equestrian War

Ace Combat series and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic have a lot of elements in common. I've had this idea in my head for quite a while, and I was waiting for the day to make it.

Ace Combat: The Equestrian War is not supposed to be an adaptation of any particular Ace Combat title, but it is mainly based on Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War, Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies and Ace Combat: Assault Horizon, with small doses of Ace Combat Zero and Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation for X360. By this, I mean that A) Yes; technology is advanced. The ponies have radio communicators, radars and vehicles (but not planes) and B) No; pegasi don't use guns or missiles. The anti-air gun turrets are a must, but there are no missiles.

Methods of attack consists mainly of engaging enemy in close combat, charging through (such as when trying to destroy a turret or bunker) or due to air jousting. For air-to-ground attacks, the pegasi may use various objects, including bombs to deal damage to and destroy objects.

The music used in the story to set up the atmosphere comes mostly from the PS2 Ace Combat titles, with gems such as "Iminnent Threat" from AC04 [link] , "First Flight" from AC5 [link] , "Mayhem" from AC0 [link] , and "The Liberation of Gracemeria" from AC6 [link].



PREMISE:
Technology advanced greatly within recent years in Equestria. For defensive and research purposes, the ponies and griffins earned devices, such as radio communicators, radars and medical support. They made an oath to never wage war against each other. However...

One day, while on a routine patrol in the skies of Equestria, the Wonderbolts discover that griffins suddenly started fortificating their border. They are suddenly attacked and shot down. It turns out they were attacked by two griffins who apparently stated a coup 'd etat in the Griffin Kingdom. They later declare war on ponies of Equestria for whatever reasons they have and the stiuation looks bleak, since the Wonderbolts were the ponies' only real aces. With them incapacitated and crippled, and despite the best efforts of the pegasus ponies, Equestria may slowly be taken over by the griffins, as earth ponies and unicorns alone cannot stand up to their air superiority...

But, on the very same day, a pegasus named Firefly returns to Equestria and begins to recruit a group of brave pegasus ponies, who would help her form her own fighter squadron capable of driving griffins away, and turning the tide of battle for the side of ponies. One of her first friends and allies is Rainbow Dash, soon followed by Lightning Bolt, Cloud Kicker and Fluttershy. Later, they are joined by Derpy Hooves and Medley. She leads her teammates of the newly formed "Mirage" squadron in hopes of protecting Equestria and mounting a comeback on The Griffin Kingdom.


Oh, and if you're wondering the 2nd Air Division, 179th Tactical Pegasus Squadron is
a reference to the 2nd season of MLP: FiM, which begun on September 17!
