Hey there, everyone who decided to check this journal and my page ;) I've got a few words and thoughts to share regarding my "PokkenGals" project. First of all, I'd like to offer my sincerest and warmest thanks to everyone who became my watchers since I started it little over a year ago. Never in my wildest dreams I'd thought it would receive such a following. Considering I'm not a pro in Source FilmMaker or Photoshop, I'm glad you people see them as being worthy of your time to check them, fave them and sometimes even comment on them. Even the least popular fights managed to accumulate 4k views over time and the most popular post ("Bianca vs Sabrina Round 2") ended up breaching 13k views! Wow... It makes me feel warm and fuzzy when I see people appreciate what I do. While I would love "PokkenGals Tournament" to be an actual fan game with fighting mechanics based on Tekken 3 or Tekken Tag Tournament, I know there are already similar projects out there, so this seems like the best compromise. This project would also likely not have ever be brought into life without a few key people, especially Zelda, who provided many of the female models I've commissioned myself (including Liza, Maylene, Karen, Phoebe, Olivia and Skyla - for full list of models made by her, check this link https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2320750844 ). I don't regret the money spend on them at all and while she no longer does commissions of models, another person took over from her and does a fine job on enhancing the Masters EX models, just like Zelda did. So, I don't know if you're reading this, Zelda, but if you do - thank you very much for helping me in making my dream come true <3 Going back to the topic at hand - while I'm very proud of how far this project had come, partially thanks to you, people, and the votes you cast to dictate how the fights would be resolved, one thing has became an issue for me regarding it: time. Or lack thereof. I have plenty of activities in my life, including a full-time job and playing different videos games (mostly Final Fantasy XIV these days, but also occasionally Overwatch 2 or other PC games), so I don't always find time to work on renders. Even so, I'm glad you continued to follow me even during bigger breaks from uploading renders. I still have quite big plans for the project - I've only done one round of group stage out of five, plus there will be knockout stage later as well. But in order to not make it drag for as long as this first round did (the first match got uploaded almost exactly one year ago, dang!), I'm going to reformulate the idea on how the group stage fights would be made. Don't worry - the general idea remains the same. I will present you with two fighters that you get to vote on to determine the more likely winner, BUT! There will be an additional voting at the start of each group - where you'll get to the decide which fight should be the "main one" i.e. which one seems the most interesting to you and which one should be presented in more detail. As you may have saw, some fights I've done so far are more detailed than others, not because I wasn't interested in doing some of them more than the other, but mainly because I felt like I should've focused more on certain ones than others. So to keep it going, starting with April next week, I'm going to present you with the first "group fight voting" where you'll decide which fight should be the "main one" - that one will be presented like others so far, with separate rounds and more renders, while the other two fights will be compressed into a single deviation, showing the highlights of the entire match, likely not exceeding 25 renders. I hope this will help me in time management and the second and future rounds will not feel as stretched as the first one did. Again, I'm thankful for your support and warm words. And I hope you'll continue to support me in my work. If this project will be fully done and successful, then who knows... Perhaps I'll consider commissioning more Masters EX models and we'll make a "second edition" of the tournament, with brand new faces like Roxanne, Shauna or Anabel ;) That's all for now. Thank you for your attention and for reading this :)
After I'm done uploading the renders with Group B fights, I'm back into making renders of upcoming fights. I'm also make polls with options to let you choose which fighter has better chance of winning. While do have my preferences among the female Pokemon trainers, I'd like to hear your opinions as well, so we can shape this tournament together ^^
I'm thinking about setting up a second account, dedicated to SourceFilmmaker, where I'll upload my works. I already got several stored on my drive and I plan to share them. I'll have to thank several people for inspiration and teaching me how to operate in SFM. Don't worry, this account is not going away.
Wow, I never thought I would ever reach a numer so high. This calls for a special musical Top List, only with gameplay clips...
